Sydney writers festival a hit – discussing writing, dissent, environment, politics

Sally-Anne was privileged to have been present at four Sydney Writers Festival seminars on Saturday 1 May. She was able to attend onsite at Latrobe City Libraries (Moe) at their online streaming event of the seminars which were:

  • Barrie Cassidy & Friends: Opposition and Dissent: what does it mean to live your politics? Is a life of protest and dissent good for the soul or is it soul destroying? Barrie, Scott Ludlam and Sally McManus.
  • Isabel Wilkerson: Caste – The Lies That Divide Us: Isabel Wilkerson discusses the powerful and unspoken social hierarchy that shapes our lives.
  • Sarah Krasnostein and (?): discussing Sarah’s new book, The Believer, a deftly drawn enquiry into the power of belief.
  • Richard Flanagan and Laura Tingle: reflecting on Richard’s latest book The Living Sea of Waking Dreams and capturing in words the things we’re losing.

A big thank you to Sydney Writers Festival for allowing 63 libraries across Australia to stream this writers event and also to Latrobe City Libraries and their staff who organised the streaming event and assisted on the day.
